As a child of Africa, I have had many opportunities that brought me to the life that I now live. I am not only a mother but also a wife and a former student. As I watch and raise my children, I find time to teach them and immerse them in an environment that nourishes their love for books. By providing this environment, I came to the understanding that I want to do this as well for other children. I want to be a torch that is seen throughout many African countries, starting with Ghana. A torch that provides nourishment through books.

Here in Ghana, I have moved my family from all of America’s comforts to provide my children with the basics of their African roots. Because of my desire for the happiness of my children, I strive to succeed in implementing Adepa Library so that other children can also see success and a possible future. While in Ghana, I have come to love the people but most importantly love to see the children happy.

The situations that some of these kids are going through are heartbreaking at the least. They lack a vast majority of the comforts that America provides. What is possible for many children in America, is nearly impossible for them. But I believe that by providing this environment of them, it can bring them a bit closer to some of the comforts. With just one book, Adepa Library can change one child’s perspective and create an imagination that will drive how they think in order to improve their daily life for the future. With Adepa library, we can create readers who not only will become great thinkers but who will later serve as future leaders, one book at a time.
